Boy Scout Golf Tournament

Dear Scouting Leader:

For the past 15 years the Longhorn Council has conducted a Golf Tournament in the FW Metroplex. We would like to invite you, and the parents who play golf, or who have companies that can, to sponsor a team or a hole, or register to play as an individual. The attachment (see Documents link below) describes the tournament and costs. There are discounts for registered Members and for adult Eagle Scouts. All are welcome. Men and Women from across the area play. The date is November 5th, 2012 at the Texas Star Golf Club in Euless.

We need your help in getting this opportunity into more hands. Should you know someone who likes to play, or can authorize a sponsorship please let me know. The golf tournament is one of the 6 Special Events the Council runs to help fund the Urban Scoutreach program. That program serves 5,505 at risk boys in our lowest economic areas with a Cub Scouting and Boy Scouting program.

If you can help or make a suggestion call Michael Wright at 817-231-8507 or send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

New YPT Policies

Trinity Trails Scouters:

In a nutshell: the online YPT that we all took is not valid for any staffed camps you attend this summer. For example if you are going to Day Camp, Summer Camp, other Summer Camps etc... you will need a different YPT. This is mandated by the State of Texas.

Some camps will offer a YPT class at their camps. For example at Worth this summer we will have a schedule of classes available to adults who need the certification. But just to be on the safe side, go ahead and take a class before the summer if possible. Or call the camp to see what their requirements are. The course takes 1 hour. There is a video session and short quiz at the end.

The District Training Chair, Glen Barrett will be having a class the next Round Table on May 7th at Arborlawn. Please attend if you like. I will also be available to come to your troop/pack meeting to have a class for your Scouters. This will give me an opportunity to visit with your unit as well. If you would like me to stop by a unit meeting just let me know and we will schedule something. Again, the class takes an hour at most.
